Over the first two weeks of March we spent time sailing in the Andaman Sea and visiting some of the smaller islands there.
Wave Dancer
The yacht, Wave Dancer, is a James Wharram design which uses rope lashings based on ancient Polynesian boat design. It is a modified (lengthened) Tiki 30 model. A video of Wave Dancer in action, taken when owned by the previous owner, is on YouTube here.
Andaman Sea
We started out from Chalong Bay, Phuket and made our way over four days to Ko Lipe, a small habited island in the Adang-Rawi Archipelago of the Andaman Sea.
The islands we visited along the way were
Ko Phi Phi Le, Ko Ha Yai, Ko Rok Yai, and Ko Ra Wi.
Some scenes of The Beach were filmed at Maya Bay.
There were plenty of accessible coral areas to snorkel around and over.
We didn’t take any underwater pictures unfortunately, but don’t worry, we did find Nemo!! 🙂
There were also plenty of fishing boats around, especially around the time of the waning half moon. At night they lit up the horizon all around us with their many high-wattage light bulbs.
